Featuring Paso Pacífico

August 2, 2021

Another week... another incredible cause! This week our collective microgiving efforts are supporting the conservation efforts of Paso Pacífico, helping to restore and protect Central American ecosystems. Show your support by chipping in $1-10 through Sunday!

Why Paso Pacífico?

Let’s start here. Among so many other things, Paso Pacífico has:

  • Planted more than one million trees
  • Stabilized the dwindling population of the yellow-naped amazon parrot
  • Increased the population of the black-handed spider monkey by more than sixty percent
  • Helped launch more than ten ecotourism businesses
  • Assisted in the creation of three local marine industry cooperatives
  • Graduated more than 350 children from their Junior Ranger program and employed dozens of community members

We are so impressed with Paso Pacífico’s extraordinary approach to conservation in central America, showing us all how it's done by engaging communities, creating local buy-in, and developing sustainable livelihoods alongside ecological protections.

News&stories

Latest news from 52andChange!

Together we’ve become volunteers in places we would have never expected, planted milkweed for butterflies, provided books to kids in need, helped save endangered turtles, helped turn excess food into nutrition, helped bring art to youth, educated one another about how we are connected to our delicate food systems, helped save abandoned horses and given old dogs new hope, watched foster youth shine in the spotlight of movie making, helped clean tires out of rivers… we could go on and on and on. It is an absolute joy to be a part of such an amazing network of humans making a difference.
