Welcome to our early supporters

Hello from the founders of a new social enterprise we are calling 52andChange!

We’re a small team of veteran nonprofit professionals who have identified not only a compelling business opportunity, but potentially also an entirely new donor segment for a nonprofit industry that’s desperately in need of one. 52andChange’s mission is to tweak and bend crowdfunding, a social technology still in its infancy, to the purpose of unite masses of ultra-small donors with extremely worthy nonprofits that are not well-served by current models of fundraising.

The nonprofit segment, as it enters a new decade, is especially ripe for disruption. Only recently dominated by direct mail and other traditional forms of outreach, charities as a whole have struggled to adapt to the fast-changing era of the Internet and social media. Take it from us. While a minority of dynamic nonprofits have succeeded by investing heavily in social media, most have been hamstrung by marketing budgets and staff size, forcing them to compete in a crowded market using the same tools as their competitors. And so, a decade characterized by bleak studies about charity fundraising and calls for total reform has ended without much change to funding models.

At 52andChange we can see that the same Internet that’s drowned so many worthy nonprofits is now presenting us with a new way forward. We have created a company to help bring the power of crowdfunding to our old field, and are hoping to fast-track a platform to begin the process and make it happen.
